I’ve never posted a very long entry. Usually I have lots of ideas in mind, but when I sit down and try to type them down, I lose all of those ideas. So I usually stare at the monitor, helplessly trying to recall what was I supposed to type in. This has always been the case.
So I tried taking down notes. I read about this idea in Tom Clancy novels; one protagonist said that we should not trust our memory, so she always have a notebook in her pockets. Taking that as an advice, I bought a small notebook, the kind that was used as tickler, that teeny weeny notebook required by ROTC and CAT as your notebook. Besides, it was very cheap and handy indeed.
Unfortunately it has not helped. You see, I do most of my thinking when I’m in the toilet. Really. So I don’t bring my handy-dandy notebook (quoting the guy in Blue’s Clues, one of the kid shows that I love to watch) at the toilet, because frankly it is HARD to write while in the toilet…. you get my drift. (Not THAT, you green-minded son of Xerex!)
Anyway, let’s get to the point.
Yesterday I bought several CD games. Looking for old games was, to me, like looking for a gold mine at a desert – you won’t find gold because it blends well with the sand. Looking for StarCraft (yep, that game) was tedious, tiring, and frustrating. They would display the CD case of the game, only to tell you they don’t have stock of that CD. Gee. Good thing I was a very patient shopper when I wanted to. I found the game at a very small stall. Whoppee.
How I wish I had that patient attitude when I was scouring several National Bookstore branches when I took advantage of their annual book sale. I got tired easily looking for good books, as their bookshelves tend to be disorganized due to all those people who get those books and never bother to return them to their right places. I tell you, it was like scavenging at a garbage dump. You really need patience to sift through those dumps of books. And when you get to the 4th floor of National-Cubao – oh, boy you’d need all the patience that you could muster. Anyway, I got to buy several computer books, my primary targets these past few weeks.
My new PC is running well, thank you very much. It is noisy because of the fan attached to the side of the casing. It has never failed me so far, and I hope it really won’t. The only disappointment, so far, is the Internet connection. I got used to the fast connection here at work, so connecting via dialup is simply a test of character.
I still haven’t started reading my MCSE book. Can’t find the urge to open that darn book, and to think that my target exam month is December. Can someone whip me up so that I can finally begin my study? Also, I have to really brush up on my CSS, as the front page of this site sucks. It’s so bland, so empty.
By the way, it was a boring day here at work, hence the rambling story.
