Is there a shortage of Nokia E61i in the Philippines?
Last Saturday, I was at Smart Wireless Center in Araneta Square Caloocan. After paying my bill, I went to Aftersales to inquire about the retention program (note that I have a three-week pending retention application for E61i at Smart Megamall). The guy who was manning the counter gave me a paper listing the usual units. E61i is still in the list, so I inquired about it. I was informed by the guy that E61i is not available at the moment.
Why list the unit when it is not available?
It seems this phone is really in demand. Ironic that you can find it at stores but not at Smart Wireless Centers.

However, the following units are abundant:
* Sony Ericsson K800i
* Nokia N70 Music Edition
* Nokia N73 Music Edition
Why should I NOT get any of those?
K800 is the new T610. Everyone has them nowadays
N70 is yesterday’s technology
N73 is teh lemon. Every time I go to a Nokia Care center, I see at least three people in line with N73’s. the N95 comes to a very close next. If it weren’t so expensive I think it’d top the list
Patience, my friend. Your E61i shall come in due time
Hi, Jeff, thanks for your input.
I am a patient guy, but remember Smart made me wait for E61 for four months only to find out that they were no longer offering them; and I wouldn’t have known if I haven’t followed it up.
In a way, I’m not in a rush. I might as well get that Asus Eee PC.
Hello from Canada!
I’m also in the market for an E61i — I ordered one from Hong Kong through a local retailer and have been waiting three weeks for it so far.
Hope there isn’t a global shortage on these handsets 🙁
Hi, AC. To put things in context, E61i is plentiful here in the Philippines. The problem is how come my service provider is taking so long in issuing this phone?
