Deliver Us from Raul Gonzalez

One of the sins of Gloria Arroyo is appointing Raul Gonzalezs as Secretary of Justice in an acting capacity for seven years running. He should have been appointed as Presidential Assistant for Bad Propaganda.

Known for saying stupid things, the latest idiocy from him stems from the apparent murder of US Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell.

From the Inquirer:

She was careless and irresponsible. She took a lonely walk by herself in [that] deserted area.

We can learn a few things from this idiocy:

1. The Philippines is not safe for foreigners and for Filipinos, too. Imagine, you cannot take a lonely walk in a deserted area. Strong Republic huh?

The US should issue a travel advisory on the Philippines. After all, the Acting Secretary of Justice himself has told the entire world that our country is not safe for foreigners.

2. If you are walking with someone, is it a lonely walk?

3. You should not comment on something when you don’t have sufficient information. Apparently, Julia Campbell was not alone, she was with the probable killer when she took that walk.

4. As I had said in a comment in the previous post, evil is necessary for us to know what is good. Atty. Theodore Te says it more forcefully than I could.

How much more must we endure from him?

If you have learned anything from Gonzales’ words of wisdom, please share them in the comments.

  1. I’ve learned a lot from Raul. He taught me how never to trust this administration. He taught me how unconfirmed appointees can do and say anything without any sense of civility and compassion. Lastly, senile old dogs will remain loyal to an immoral master.

  2. Deliver us, indeed! You see,
siraul0 and mamaPandoc has the same things in common. Both are big liars. Remember that ol’ saying? “Birds of the same lies, fly together?”

  3. if an innocent 11 year old can have the impression “what is his role in this country? he looks very old and weak already. he should just go fishing and be in the mountains”..how much more to us adults who know of his poisonous tongue!

  4. merely looking at him makes you think of a snake hissing its way through the thick, murky river where it re-charges from the toxic wastes spewed from the so-called palace by the Pasig River.

  5. Raul Gonzalez probably realizes that (just like many of his contemporaries) all his past accomplishments have gone down the drain because of his association with Gloria. If history will no longer judge him as a hero, maybe he is hoping it will at least remember him as a court jester. So be it.

  6. I am looking at the message here. It is true in any part of the world – walking alone in a deserted place is an invitation for predators. Out there in the wilderness, humans behave like animals – predator and prey. One must be prepared to defend oneself to avoid becoming prey.

  7. i couldn’t bring myself to to blog about him. it surely will end up an award-winning, I mean, libelous piece.

  8. to commenter luis: banaue is known as a place for “lonely walks.” i had met an israeli girl doing just that there, and my group and I were so ashamed of ourselves.

  9. So, coming from an official of this bogus inept government, that the Philippines is not really a safe place, no wonder, why should an investor invest in this country. Any Filipino should be careful anywhere in our country. Maybe our next tag as a country would be…Philippines, the most dangerous place in Asia!!! No thanks to Gloria Arroyo!

  10. Raul Gonzales is a misfit in a position as a Secretary of Justice. It shows how insensitive he is in what he said about the cause of the death of Ms. Julia Campbell. He should shut his mouth if he has nothing good to say in any issue. As always, this wisdom is correct – “More talk, more mistake; less talk, less mistake.”

  11. Julia Campbell had made a big sacrifice just to serve the people that are being neglected by the Philippine government. Airheaded officials people like Raul Gonzales should be titled as the Secretary of Shame. A plea to GMA, fire that son of a bee.

  12. And he’s not from UP! Every glorious word that comes out of his mouth is music to my ears. I hope they link him to his school every single time he does that. haha

Make the Dominicans proud, Raul! haha

  13. In fairness, there are good graduates from that Dominican school.

Hmm.. why don’t you follow Jester’s suggestion? In the book, you can link Raul to that school all you want he he.

  14. Inaction equals condoning!!! And that’s the Palaces’ policy for the statement made by Sec. Gonzalez! It’s a shame when our government is pushing for better tourism and yet the Philippines remain a dangerous nation to visit, if not to help! Poverty and ignorance will result to more crimes and tragedies!
